Giving

Another way that First Baptist Church of Nokomis is different is the way we handle the matter of giving.  Many churches stress the importance of tithing a tenth of all you own to your local church.  Many churches hold stewardship drives to compel you to give as a matter of duty or debt or out of guilt.  But the Bible teaches that your giving should be a matter of joy, not obligation.

"Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver." 2 Corinthians 9:7

Tithing is important - not to the church, but to you.  God does not need your money.  He has all the resources of the universe at His disposal.  He created them and they are His. Tithing is important because it builds your trust in Him and because it creates a pathway for Him to bless you abundantly.

"Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse that there may be food in my house. Test me in this, says the Lord Almighty, and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it." Malachi 3:10

We will not ask you or tell you to give.  When you are ready to give, God will tell you.  Until then, please simply enjoy the blessings of fellowship with us in the Holy Spirit.
